A pure cube, a form and a material reduced to abstraction; the essential ingredients for dreaming.
For centuries, gold has been the material that inspired the dreams of alchemists.
To dream of gold as the allegorical substance of the spirit.
The quintessence and ultimate aspiration.
And it is at the very heart of this quintessence, within this spiritual matter, that the invitation to dream resides.”

Lei mi chiede una nota per la camera d’oro che insieme abbiamo pensato per l’Hôtel Windsor.
Dico insime perché fu lei a ricordarmi un altro luogo, un’altra mia opera, realizzata dentro un ambiente dalle pareti d’oro.
E’ appunto da quel ricordo che viene la Camera d’oro di Nizza.
Un cubo d’oro, una lampada, un letto.
Un cubo puro, una forma e una materia astratte;
L’indispensabile per sognare.
L’oro, da secoli, é la materia che ha fatto sognare gli alchimisti.
Sognare l’oro come materia allegorica dello spirito.
Quintessenza e aspirazione suprema.
Ed é dentro questa quintessenza, dentro questa materia spirituale l’invito al sogno.”
